So, is the only way to get AFP to spend FP? Can AFP be assigned?

Yes, the Ability Flux Points are earned by spending FP so as to encourage players to use their FP. By assigned, you mean given out by the Director? I'm not planning on adding that at this time, unless a lot of playtesters disagree with me.  By the way, if anyone has a better name for AFP please let me know. I'm not happy with it, and I'm trying to think of a better name. |

Perhaps the very act of "spending" the Flux points causes them to "solidify" or "crystalize" or something and you could call AFP something completely different, like DESTINY or VIRTUE or QUEST?

I like Virtue Points for something, but since you'll get them for performing rather non-virtuous acts sometimes, I don't think it's right for this. Maybe something like Prestige Points you earn in Pathfinder Society to get special items.
I think Destiny Points could work though.

I think I may go with "Building Points". It's a common enough term in (mostly online) games that its meaning should be obvious.
